1001 Night Package

At 08:00 am, we depart by 4WD vehicles to Wahiba Sands via the scenic and rugged coastal route. This tour offers breathtaking glimpses of the blue waters of the Gulf of Oman offset by pristine white beaches. Stop at Quriyat Fort an exceptionally sturdy building in the city of Quriyat . Recently restored, this 19th century fortress is a perfect example of the typical coastal defensive buildings in Oman with its high ornate walls and watchtower. Visit the picturesque Wadi Arabayeen with its deep pools of water set among the date palms. We then proceed to the Bimah sinkhole, a spectacular limestone crater with blue green water at the bottom.

As we continue from here the road winds through mountain terrain offering breathtaking glimpses of the ocean. Photo stop at Wadi Shab and continue driving towards Sur. Arrive Sur and visit the Fish Jetty and traditional dhow factory. (Dhow factory is closed on Fridays). Photo stop of Fatah Al Khair a ship which is currently a part of an open -air museum which is dedicated to the shipbuilding lineage of the city of Sur in Oman. Built over 70 years ago, the wooden fishing vessel of Fateh Al Khair has strong historical significance to it. It was brought back to Yemen, restored, and grounded on dry land. The ship is said to be hand -built without any nails, and hand - woven ropes were used to shore up. Visitors are not permitted to climb up the dhow but can get up close to look at the flanks. Lunch at a local restaurant in Sur.

We continue our drive on to the Wahiba Sands, a vast mass of undulating red and White Sea of sand dunes rising up to 200 meters, which are, also host to a variety of flora and fauna. The ever -changing patterns of the dunes are a photographer’s delight. Experience a roller coaster like feeling over the dunes. Dinner and Overnight in tents at The 1000 Night Camp.

At 08:00 am, enjoy Breakfast at the camp. Wahiba Sands is also home to the traditional Bedouin tribe who are known for their hospitality and their knowledge of the Sands. We will visit a Bedouin family in their traditional and simple habitat.

In stark contrast to this is Wadi Bani Khalid. It comprises small pretty villages embedded in the mountains. The Wadi has clear deep blue water. It is advisable to wear light comfortable clothing and walking shoes. Set Menu Lunch will be served at local restaurant in Wadi Bani Khalid before returning to Muscat.
